AboutWhat does the meme depict?

The 'Are You Serious Face' meme, also known colloquially as 'Seriously?', features a black and white drawing that portrays a puzzled expression. This image shows a person, gender ambiguous, with a slightly furrowed brow and an open mouth, indicative of astonishment or incredulity. It is typically employed in rage comics to depict reactions to situations marked by apparent stupidity or ignorance.

OriginWho did it first?

The 'Are You Serious Face' meme originated from a televised exchange between David Silverman, from American Atheists, and Bill O'Reilly on Fox News. During this debate, O'Reilly presented the 'tide goes in, tide goes out' argument to assert the existence of God, which prompted Silverman's bewildered facial expression around two minutes into the discussion. This expression was later converted into a black and white drawing and posted on a Reddit thread titled 'Do your worst :) (FIXED)' on January 18th, 2011, which popularized it as a meme within rage comics. The image can be found on Reddit.[1]
