The meme has its roots in 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon,' released by Summit Entertainment on November 20th, 2009, in the United States. Concerning the story, Edward and Bella, played by Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, talk about the Volturi, a coven that enforces laws in the vampire world. During their conversation, they view a painting of Volturi members Aro, Caius, and Marcus, portrayed by Michael Sheen, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Christopher Heyerdahl, respectively. The painting then starts to animate, depicting them standing on a balcony. A few years later, on June 7th, 2013, a YouTuber named Hanny Fanny uploaded a clip of this scene which helped popularize the image as a meme template.[1]
