In the episode, Captain Hindsight arrives at the calamitous Deepwater Horizon oil spill site. Rather than taking action to mitigate the disaster, he provides retrospective advice on preventive measures, to the oddly satisfied applause of the surrounding crowd. This character and his 'superpower' of hindsight were used by South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker to satirize the retrospective analysis prevalent in media coverage of the 2010 BP oil spill. On the evening of the episode's airing, an Urban Dictionary definition for Captain Hindsight was uploaded by the user called Xero_Manifesto.[1]
