In episode 13, titled "Homer to the Max" (see the episode on IMDb), Homer Simpson changes his name to Max Power after discovering an unpleasant association with his own name. In a memorable scene from this episode, Homer looks out of his window with a nervous expression, trying to see if people are mocking his original name. This particular frame where Homer peers out became the basis for the meme. The earliest known instance of this image being used in a meme was on November 14th, 2014, posted by a Tumblr (now X) user named king-duckworth featuring the caption "when you hear people arguing in your street."
